Gluten free for diabetics

Started by Maureen 11/14/2011 4:31:38 PM

I just joined and haven't read a lot of the site but I'm wondering how many of you out there are gluten-free and have diabetes. so looking for recipes that address both of these issues. Also have IBS.

Thank you,

Maureen

I am also diabetic and have high oxalate and a fatty liver. Dr wants me to lose some weight right away but I have really cut down on my food intake and not lost a pound.  I just joined also and am still learning about being gluten free.  I also need recipes and help with this whole thing.

DX diabetic last year, and GF for the last 3 months. I'm still trying to find recipes myself. :)

Maureen I'm so glad you started this discussion! We have heard from a number of our Facebook fans with this same request. I came across a recipe for lentil, vegetable and chicken stew that is both gluten-free and diabetic friendly. Here's the link: http://www.diabeticconnect.com/recipes/4649-savory-lentil-vegetable-and-chicken-stew-gluten-free

I'm looking forward to seeing what other people suggest!

hi all - I've had T1D for almost 11 years and Celiac for 3.

One of my go to resources for good GF/diabetes friendly recipes is the site: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

The blogger, Stephanie O'Dea has daughters who are GF and always lists the GF alternative to recipes

Thanks for the suggestions. I also have Irritable Bowel so have to be careful...no peppers, raw food, tomatoes and its sauce to name a few. I'm also dairy free except for yogurt. Maureen
