Your Favorite Flavor or Recipe For Smoothies

Started by Lynn , author of Lynn's Kitchen Adventures 3/22/2012 4:00:10 PM

My family loves smoothies and we eat them often. I love trying new flavors and combinations of fruits and would love some new ideas. What is your favorite way to make or favorite recipe for smoothies?

I may sound like a broken record here, but I'm a peanut butter freak! So, most of my smoothies have peanut butter in them. Peanut butter and banana is my favorite combination.

I'm a big fan of adding a small amount of plain or vanilla yogurt. adding too much can add a lot of calories and sugar fast. but just a bit (1/2 a cup or less) adds such a nice creaminess. I found the idea from this recipe:

I rarely use a recipe, just throw things in that we have - I love Frozen peaches in mine and/or banana - the kids have been reminding me lately to add spinach too!

I love the fact that I can hide spinach and other really healthy things in smoothies and my kids still love and eat them.

We love making smoothies over here! Like Elaine, I love using yogurt in our smoothies. Our most recent favorite is a Strawberry Pineapple Lassi - fruit, ice, yogurt - blend. Delicious.

Strawberries are in season so we have been making strawberry and homemade yogurt smoothies.

I buy and cut up all sorts of fruits to freeze: Pineapple, mango, kiwi, strawberries, apples, grapes, bananas, berries...pretty much anything. Then I lay them on a cookie sheet to freeze individually and then bag them. I toss them in my bullet with some vanilla yogurt and my secret ingredient...1/4 of an avocado. Seriously. It's the best! It makes it creamy and a bit more filling because it has the natural fat in it.
SO DELICIOUS!

I like to get some peaches strawberries and pineapple and mix in some sherbet and a little bit of plain yogurt

Todd

I can't wait for the peaches to come into season. Peaches are one of the things I miss since we moved from Georgia!

Peanut Butter & banana is my favorite!

Spoon of peanut butter, 1 ripe banana, low-fat milk, vanilla yogurt(Chobani) and ice. Sometimes we used chocolate milk.

Strawberry banana is good too!

We just throw all the fruit we want in the blender with a couple scoops of vanilla greek yogurt & ice.
